Continua Chrome Extension Privacy Notice
Last updated: May 23, 2026
This page is the direct privacy policy for the Continua Chrome Extension distributed through the Chrome Web Store. It supplements Continua's broader Privacy Policy.
Data categories we may process
- Account identifiers such as email address or user ID when you sign in.
- Authentication state and short-lived account-link tokens needed to connect the extension to your Continua account.
- Current-page URL, title, selected text, relevant page text snippets, screenshots, images, or other page content only when you invoke a feature or enable an optional page-awareness mode.
- Prompts, notes, and message content you choose to send through the extension.
- Local settings, extension preferences, cached extension state, diagnostics, and error-reporting data used to operate the extension.
How we use data
- Authenticate the extension and keep it linked to your Continua account.
- Provide popup, side-panel, memory, page-context, chat, and Development OS entry-point features you request.
- Analyze the active page or selected content only when you ask Continua to do so or grant optional page-awareness permissions.
- Operate, debug, secure, and improve extension reliability and abuse prevention.
Chrome permissions and controls
- activeTab and scripting are used after user action to extract context from the page you are viewing.
- storage stores authentication state and extension preferences locally.
- sidePanel powers the persistent side-panel experience.
- tabs and broad site access are optional and requested only when you enable features such as auto-analyze pages.
- Host access to Continua APIs is requested at runtime. First-party content scripts run only on Continua-owned pages such as
agent.continua.aiandstaging-agent.continua.ai. - You can revoke permissions in Chrome extension settings, sign out, or uninstall the extension to remove local extension state.
What the extension does not do
- It does not request arbitrary-site host permissions at install time.
- It does not request Chrome's cookies permission or read browser cookies.
- It does not use the Chrome debugger API.
- It does not load remote executable JavaScript; executable extension code ships in the reviewed package.
- It does not sell personal data or use extension data for personalized advertising.
Sharing, retention, and security
- We share data with service providers only as needed to deliver the feature you invoked, operate the extension, comply with law, or protect against abuse and security incidents.
- We use modern encryption for data in transit and encryption at rest where applicable.
- We retain extension data only as long as needed to provide the service, support active sessions, operate securely, and satisfy legal obligations.
- Information received from Google APIs is handled according to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including Limited Use requirements.
